  • St Augustine- Your Insurance Advantage

In talking recently with our local insurance agent here in St Augustine, it does seem that we, on a selective basis, might have some easing of rates for hurricane season up here in North Florida, without a question by crossing over the Florida border into South Georgia. Here is an interesting chart of hurricane history over the past 100 years from 1899-1999. Though it would be foolish to say that North Florida is not susceptible to hurricanes, with the Gulf Stream heading further offshore and the Florida peninsula exposed to the south there is the fact that North Florida and South Georgia just might be a better place to hang out for the summer season.

Catamaran owners now have a place to go to get preferred Insurance Hurricane Rates! Insurance is always an issue when considering storage and placement of your new or used catamaran during the summer months. We have insurance professionals standing by, so feel free to contact us any time for more information regarding the new lift, summer storage and services provided at SAMC!

Bottom paint, saildrive service, rudder post stiffness, wax and polish the hull and A/C installed. We left our catamaran in Jan and I returned April 1st to have the boat splashed April 2nd. All went well and on price. The yard contracts out much of the work and I was very pleased with Half-Hitch and MasterCool.

The A/C installation was very professionally completed and daily communication from Mike via email and phone while the installation continued. Claire in the front office was very helpful and arranged additional work on a leaking electric head within a few minutes. I sensed the yard is working on providing quality services for catamaran owners. The travel lift crew was exceptional taking great care to lift and splash the boat without a mark on it. The town of St. Augustine has a lot of history and a fun place to be.

    Date: 2013-04-29 Captain: Long Beach

We were hesitant to come in here for two reasons: poor support from the dock and bad currents/wind. However, the staff was great - knew what they were doing and had 3 people out to help. The wind and current were at their worst when we came in but the folks at the marina were proficient and helpful so we came in well and safe. In the morning we got pumped out (included in the charge) and filled with water. Last night we walked the old town knowing that we were tied up in the best place around.

Date: 2013-02-25 Captain: Tracys Landing, Maryland

We needed to haul out to replace our sail drive seals. The yard did a good job for us and went the extra mile to make us comfortable living on the hard for a week. Only downside is that we had a few areas that needed touching up on the bottom paint, and they don't allow you to do any painting yourself.

    Date: 2013-04-29 Captain: Wilmington, NC

The wind and tide still have to be considered even with the new sea wall. Clean rest rooms. This town has history of course and should be visited at least once.

    Date: 2013-04-26 Captain: Buffalo

We needed to have a water pump rebuilt, so we stopped in here. Staff is great; though you won't see them unless you search them out. While we waited for the pump, we had full electric and a very quiet dock. A ten minute dinghy ride to Hurricane Patty's for casual food and a produce market around the corner. A short bike ride to historical St. Augustine. The service work is outsourced to Capt. Ron, who seemed very honest to us.

New Lagoon Catamarans For Sale

Lagoon is a world leader in sailing catamaran cruisers. Lagoon has been building luxury catamarans since 1984 and has kept developing its offer to satisfy all your expectations with a range of boats including a full line of sailing catamarans as well a new line of motor yachts.

The first generation of catamarans was launched from 1987 to 1996 with the Lagoons 55, 47, 57 and 67: all ocean cruising private yachts. However, the Lagoons 37 and 42 were more suited to the charter market. The production was limited, but it established some strong guidelines by which the brand could be recognized from the outset: the high quality of design and construction with better than average performance.

These are still Lagoon's fundamental values.

1996 saw the launch of a new generation of Lagoons that took over the market immediately with the use of the following basic principles: maximum protection in the sun, maximum use of space available (hence the vertical cabin windows, now a Lagoon trademark), more comfort and paying careful attention to the trends set by the private customers.

Since 2003, Lagoon is the world dealer in cruising catamarans due to its innovative range and supportive distribution network. Today, Lagoon can boast to having 75 passionate catamaran specialists distributors all over the world. Lagoon Catamarans are enjoyed all across the globe by private owners and charter fleet operators.

Since 2010, when VPLP's Oracle won the America's Cup, Nauta Design (another great name in naval architecture) has been working with Lagoon to design the interiors of new models.

As a Lagoon Catamaran dealer, The Catamaran Company can provide you with the support and expertise to help you select your perfect yacht. Select a model to see more information and contact us today for more information.
